Fourteen QFES fire crews and six crews from the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service were at a large forest fire burning near Wondai and Cherbourg on Wednesday afternoon.
The fire, which broke out on Sunday, is not threatening homes.
A QFES spokesman said the fire had been contained and crews were now working to strengthen containment lines.
Smoke is affecting Cherbourg, Wondai, Nanango and surrounding areas.

There are now 17 fire crews working to contain the large bushfire burning in the forestry area between Cherbourg and Wondai.
Eight Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) fire crews are working alongside nine Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) crews.
A QFES spokesman said there was no threat to homes at this time, however the fire is burning towards the northern end of the Wondai State Forest.
Firefighters are currently backburning and constructing fire breaks to contain the blaze.
Water bombing is also taking place .
Residents have been advised to avoid the area, particularly around Old Cherbourg Road.

Earlier on Tuesday:
Fire crews worked over Monday night backburning to contain a bushfire which has been burning in the Wondai State Forest since Sunday.
Forestry tracks and Old Cherbourg Road were closed to allow firefighters safe access.
A QFES spokesman asked people to continue avoiding the area on Tuesday as visibility was still low and emergency crews were working in the area.
Firefighters are working with Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service staff to strengthen containment lines.
The local fire crews were joined by a rural / urban strike team from central Queensland on Monday afternoon.
Water bombers were also called in on Monday to assist.
The spokesman said the fire was posing no threat to property but was creating a lot of smoke, especially in Cherbourg and Wondai.
