A bunch of very enthusiastic artists are hoping visitors to the Kingaroy Art Gallery will pop out into the back gallery to take a look at their works.
The artists are taking part in the 9th annual disAbility Art Show and have been preparing their paintings, drawings and sculptures for months.
Many were present on Saturday morning, when the show was officially opened.
Author and artist Karen Russell, who has recently released her first book “Deakon the Dragon Is Sad”, did the honours by cutting the ribbon.
She explained that the book – which deals with sadness and depression – had started out as a poem.
“As it got longer and longer, I thought it could be a book,” she said.
The exhibition launch was compered by Jacob Scheele, who also has a work on display: an almost life-size tribute to Channel 9 sports journalist Ken Sutcliffe.
The exhibition is being sponsored by Jobmatch, CROSB Kingaroy, SBcare Kingaroy, Graham House Murgon and The Gumnut Place Murgon.
