The Kumbia Rattlers Cricket Club officially opened their new clubhouse during a ceremony at their oval last week.
The clubhouse is the result of fundraising and the generosity of local businesses (see below) as well as a $34,980 grant from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund, and $13,600 from the Tarong Community Partnership Fund.
“Without that, we were buggered,” club president Warren “Fred” Cross told the laughing crowd.
The new clubhouse is fully lined and also has water and power connected.
Warren said the aim now was to bring the Kumbia community together around the clubhouse, and offer Milo cricket for younger residents.
Other support for the project came from Fiedler Brothers Plumbing, Burnett Electrical Services, Betta Electrical, South Burnett Building Approvals, Total Building Solutions, Howlett Drafting, ONF Surveyors, Hansen Kitchens, Hy-Tec, Vincent Dugdell, Wayne Wolski, Cross’s Livestock, Mark Hutchison, Crawford Sand & Gravel Supplies, Belvedere Peanuts, Page Concreting, Brosnan Constructions and Dave Darcy.
South Burnett Mayor Keith Campbell and Division 6 councillor Ros Heit also contributed to the project via their discretionary funds.
