The Southern Stars cricket team is heading back to Australia undefeated after a 5-0 whitewash in Sri Lanka.
The Aussies played four one-day internationals as well as a T-20 against the home side.
Kingaroy’s Holly Ferling played an important role in all the One-Day Internationals.
- 1st ODI – Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat. They were all out for 76 off 24.5 overs. In reply, the Aussies overhauled the target in the 15th over, finishing with 6/79. Ferling finished with the best bowling figures, 3/4 off four overs, including two maidens.
- 2nd ODI – Australia won the toss and elected to bat. The visitors were 8/254 at the end of their 50 overs. In reply, Sri Lanka fell short on the chase, finishing 9/176 in the 50th over. Ferling took two wickets off her nine overs, but was expensive, finishing 2/38 with 10 wides.
- 3rd ODI – Australia won the toss and sent Sri Lanka in. The Aussie bowlers were again dominant. Sri Lanka were all out in the 37th over for 102 runs. In reply, Australia made 104 after 27.3 overs for the loss of just wicket. Ferling took two wickets, 2/27 off six overs, and was again on target.
- 4th ODI – Australia won the toss and elected to bat. The Southern Stars were 3/268 at the end of their 50 overs. In reply, Sri Lanka were all out for 131 in 45.5 overs. Ferling took 3/30 off 7.5 overs but again had 10 wides.
- T20 – Australia won the toss and sent Sri Lanka in. Sri Lanka were 8/59 at the end of their 20 overs; the Australians overtook the target after 8.1 overs without the loss of a wicket. Australia won by 10 wickets and 71 balls – a record for T20 Women’s Internationals.
The Southern Stars now will play a five-match ODI series against South Africa with games in Canberra, Sydney and Coffs Harbour.
The first match will get underway on November 18.
