The SBRC will retain its current Kingaroy Swimming Pool managers for the next two years

The South Burnett Regional Council will retain its existing Kingaroy Swimming Pool managers for another two years.

On Wednesday morning, the Council held a special meeting to consider tenders it had received for management of the pool complex.

Councillors said the reason a special meeting had been called was because the issue needed to be settled before the start of this year’s swimming season, which will begin at most of the region’s swimming pools this month.

Following usual practice, discussion about tenders that had been received was held behind closed doors to preserve the commercial confidence of bidders.

When the meeting re-opened to the public, Councillors voted unanimously that subject to the successful negotiation of a lease, the Council would accept a tender from Donna and Joe Dangerfield to manage the pool for the next two years.

The couple will lease the pool for $52,000 excluding GST for the first year, and the same amount plus CPI for the second year.

Cr Kathy Duff had been granted a leave of absence from the meeting and did not vote.
