Students from Kingaroy State School who competed at this year’s Ekka walked away with 18 awards for their efforts.
The students were competing in the ‘Education On Show’ section of the Royal Queensland Show.
The children had to create work for this year’s theme – Queensland Weather – and enjoyed learning about the world they live in as they put their entries together.
Twenty-four schools took part in this year’s competition, and Kingaroy State School was declared the sectional winner of the Prep division.
Students also experienced success in a wide range of curriculum areas including English, Technology, Design, Science and Visual Arts.
First prize awards went to Jayne Cullen (Prep), Miss Lindbeck’s Prep Class (Group Mural Project), Daniel Lawton (Year 1) and Aaron Cullen (Year 1).
The school achieved 18 awards overall.
While some students had displayed work at the Kingaroy Show, many found it difficult to comprehend the idea of hundreds of thousands of people visiting the Ekka and possibly viewing their work.
Award winners and their families were very proud of the wonderful result.
