An 18-year-old South Burnett man was taken to hospital with minor injuries after a single vehicle crash on the D’Aguilar Highway at Coolabunia on Wednesday morning.
Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Duane Frank, said the crash occurred about 5:15am near Sommerfields Lane.
Snr Sgt Frank said the man was driving into Kingaroy on his way to work when his vehicle ran off the road into gravel.
It appeared the driver had then over-corrected and lost control.
The Mazda sedan hit a culvert and then slammed into a tree.
“He was very lucky. It was another crash that could well have been fatal,” Snr Sgt Frank said.
The driver was taken by ambulance to Kingaroy Hospital with minor injuries to his arm and later released.
Police have issued him with a ticket for failing to maintain proper control of a vehicle.
Snr Sgt Frank said fatigue may have contributed to the crash.
