Police targeting hoon drivers in Kingaroy seized a white Commodore sedan in Buckingham Street on Monday afternoon.

Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Duane Frank, said the vehicle had been impounded for 90 days.

The action followed complaints by residents about alleged “hoon driving” in nearby Logan Road, which is unsealed, and Regent Street.

This is the second vehicle which has been seized by Kingaroy police recently.

“Police are continuing to target a group of hoon drivers,” Snr Sgt Frank said.

“And we won’t make any apology about it, we will keep seizing their vehicles when and where we can.

“We rely on information from the community to report these offences.”

An 18-year-old Kingaroy man has been issued with a notice to appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court in August to face a charge of “willfully driving a vehicle to make smoke or noise”.

A 27-year-old Kingaroy man has been charged with drink-driving after he allegedly recorded a 0.135 on a breath test after being stopped by police in King Street, Kingaroy, at 1:00am last Thursday.

At 8:30pm on Saturday night, police stopped a driver in Fisher Street, Kingaroy, at 8:30pm.

The 51-year-old Kingaroy man will also face a drink-driving charged after allegedly blowing 0.146.

A 34-year-old Kingaroy man will face a charge of possessing a restricted weapon, a nunchaku, after police were called to a disturbance between a group  of men in Burnett Street, Kingaroy, at 1:00pm on Sunday.

Snr Sgt Frank said police defused the situation and seized the nunchucks.

The man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on August 15.

A 27-year-old Kingaroy man w2ill face a charge of unlicensed driving after his vehicle was stopped by police in Knight Street, Kingaroy, on Thursday afternoon.

A 27-year-old Kingaroy man wanted for failing to appear in Kingaroy Court in July on an unlicensed driving charge was arrested by police at an Earl Street residence on Saturday morning.

A 34-year-old Kingaroy man was arrested on a warrant on Monday at 9:00pm in Jean Street, Kingaroy. He was also wanted for failing to appear in court in June to face drug charges and shop stealing.

A 26-year-old Memerambi man wanted on an arrest warrant was taken into custody by Kingaroy police on Monday afternoon. The man was wanted for failing to appear at Beenleigh Magistrates Court in June on charges of shop stealing.

He was bailed to appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on August 15.

Police and fire crews were called at 7:00am on Monday to a house on Bellbird Road at Hodgeleigh after reports of a house fire.

They found a small electrical fire in a freezer. No one was injured at the house only had minor damage.

At 9:00pm on Wednesday, firefighters responded to a chimney fire on Burrandowan Road at Inverlaw.

Urban and rural crews attended and made sure the ceiling area and chimney was safe.
