A 58-year-old Toowoomba woman has been airlifted to hospital after a motorbike crash on the Burnett Highway on Tuesday morning.

An RACQ LifeFlight spokesperson said the woman was believed to be on a journey to Cairns when she veered off the highway and crashed.

The incident occurred about 10km south of Ban Ban Springs.

The Sunshine Coast-based LifeFlight helicopter landed on the highway near the crash.

The woman suffered shoulder and spinal injuries and was transported to Nambour Hospital in a stable condition.

She was later flown to Brisbane for further specialist treatment.
