The Dascombe family’s latest business venture in Murgon – a full travel agency – got off to a sizzling start on Thursday.
A sausage sizzle, that is … complete with an outside broadcast from CROW-FM.
The family, best known for its fleet of 46 buses, can now organise cruises, flights, car hire and rail trips – both domestic and international from a dedicated office at 40 Gore Street.
The travel agency also stocks a large range of travel brochures for customers to browse.
Felicity Dascombe told southburnett.com.au Pursers had been organising group tours within Australia and overseas, as well as day trips, for 20 years so it wasn’t a big stretch to extend this to a full travel agency.
She said the new business would be the only travel agency operating out of a shopfront between Gympie and Toowoomba.
“People will be able to pop down, have a chat, get ideas for a trip and get a quote,” she said.
Pursers also has plans to take the agency on the road, too.
“We plan to become mobile. We will be able to travel up to Kingaroy and then outlying areas as well. It will be a door-to-door mobile travel agency.”
The travel agency joins Pursers’ main line of work … buses … at 40 Gore Street.
The company operates 24 school runs, the Caboolture-Murgon-Caboolture run, school trips and excursions with its fleet which range in size from a 11-seater to a 52-seater.
The Gore Street site is also an authorised vehicle inspection station for car roadworthy certificates.
