The second South Burnett firefighter to receive an award recently is Cameron Bond, captain at Cherbourg Fire Station.
Cameron was one of more than 130 nominations from across Queensland in the third annual QPCU Everyday Hero awards.
He made it through to the list of 18 finalists, and then was one of the six winners recognised at a gala ceremony in Brisbane.
Cameron won the Everyday Hero For Dedication award which recognises an individual who has shown dedication to the lives of those around them through strength and determination of character, inspiring loyalty in their workplace or community.
The former Murgon Station firefighter was recognised for his tireless work mentoring, coaching and supporting the revitalised Cherbourg fire station after his appliance was attacked by youths while responding to an emergency in 2014.
The QPCU Everyday Heroes Awards were launched in 2014 as part of QPCU’s 50th Anniversary celebrations.
Five category winners each receive $1000 cash deposited into a QPCU account and $1000 donated to their charity of choice.
