A gala dinner and discussion night which will be held on June 29 will explain the aims and objectives of the Red Earth Community Foundation (RECF), as well as help raise funds for the group’s upcoming community projects.
The RECF Board and alumni of the South Burnett Community Leadership Program will jointly host an inaugural “Growing Our Community” dinner and discussion at Cassis Restaurant in Booie.
“RECF is a vehicle for philanthropy and future planning, allowing our community to support home grown initiatives for our region,” chairperson Georgie Somerset said.
“It focusses on local projects, local people and local ideas, with a view to develop our communities’ capacity for independence and self reliance.”
Tickets to the cocktail-style event will include drinks, dinner and an opportunity to network with other like-minded people in the region.
“This event will allow the Board to share our progress to date and gain feedback about how we can encourage initiatives for our region’s future,” Georgie said.
RECF’s initial activities occurred in the period following the 2011 floods.
Since then, the group has delivered the South Burnett Community Leadership program for three consecutive years.
RECF also helped organise a fundraising drive after the 2013 floods that provided financial assistance for local farming families.
“RECF enables our region to support young people and respond to challenges,” Georgie said.
“We want to spread the word about RECF to the South Burnett community.”
The dinner will be held at Cassis Restaurant at the corner of Haydens and Shellbachs Roads in Booie at 6:00pm on Wednesday, June 26.
Tickets – which include dinner and drinks – are $75 per head and need to be pre-booked. The can be ordered by direct deposit or by mail.
