If you live in Blackbutt or Yarraman and you’re not scared of a challenge, here’s an important date to jot in your diary – Thursday, June 9.

This is the day the Yarraman Bowls Club will be kicking off the first match in their new Yarrabutt Lawns Bowls Challenge, and names will need to be in by 10:00am for a 10:30am start.

The Yarrabutt will be waged between bowlers from the Blackbutt district and fellow bowlers from the Yarraman district.

It will take the form of an 18 end match with scoring 2 points for an end and 5 for the win, and no dead ends permitted – the jack gets respotted.

The Yarrabutt will be held on the second Thursday of each month for the remainder of the year, and all points will be accumulated for a Christmas event.

This is a mixed gender day, but players must be in a team closest to their home.

However a random draw out of a hat before each round means players will be allocated to a home team and player position that may well vary from one round to the next.

Morning tea, coffee and biscuits will be supplied, but players are asked to bring along a plate for a shared lunch.

This promises to be a very entertaining competition, and you can find out more by phoning Wayne on 0414-594-480, Robyn on 0421-097-944 or Nev on (07) 4170-0880.
