The ALP candidate for Maranoa at the upcoming Federal Election, Dave Kerrigan, was lucky to escape serious injury when he was involved in a head-on crash at the weekend.
The incident occurred about 5:30pm on Saturday on Oakey-Cooyar Road, near the intersection with Dalby-Cooyar Road, at Nutgrove.
Nutgrove is just south of Cooyar.
Mr Kerrigan was travelling from Warwick where he had been campaigning.
Neither driver was injured, although both vehicles required towing.
Police were called to the scene at 5:53pm but took no further action.
Mr Kerrigan is a health worker at Barcaldine.
The former shearer has lived in Maranoa all his life and moved to Barcaldine 32 years ago.
