The first round of the annual Warman Woodrow Shield was played at Kilcoy last Saturday, May 7.
This year, the competition is being sponsored by Kerry and Robbie Christie.
After the first round, Woodford have a narrow lead over Kilcoy 135-132.
Winning teams on the day for each club:
- Woodford: Nev Hanna, Brett Kelly and Barb Frainey
- Kilcoy: Jamie Mitchell, Harold Alford and Phyl Coffee.
The day’s raffles were won by Brett Kelly, Noels Lanes, Marg Worrall and Doug Tate.

On Tuesday, May 10 in the Star of the Green competition, John Worrall defeated Marg Worrall and will now play Horst Myer next Tuesday.
The jackpot went to Dennis Thomsen, Jenny Edwards, Liz Frawley and Peter Playford, and now reverts to $21.

Trophy Day was played on Tuesday, May 3 in the form of two games of 12 ends, with scoring one for an end and four for a win.

The semi-finals and the final of the A Grade Singles were played at the Nanango Bowls Club on Tuesday, May 10.
In the first semi-final match, Allan Wright defeated Bob Hall 25-4.
And in the second semi Henry Bliesner started off with a bang: his first two bowls were touchers and his next two were very close as well.
But that was where it ended, with Trevor George going on to defeat him 25-12.
The final was also a very interesting game.
On the first eight ends, the scoring was only one per end.
Allan Wright jumped to a 10-2 lead after 10 ends. only to see Trevor George fight back to lead 15-14 on the 20th.
Allan then hit his straps, going on to win the match 25-15.

Burnett District Championships
The District Sides Championships is a regular event on Queensland’s bowling calendar, with districts going head-to-head in separate men’s and women’s competitions.
All teams battle it out for the chance to be crowned Queensland’s top bowling district.
This year’s competition was held over from May 4-7 at different venues on the Gold Coast, and attracted 550 players and team officials.
After the District Sides compeition was concluded, players had the opportunity to stay at the host district to compete in Queensland’s State Championships.
