A Kingaroy police officer faces an anxious wait for the results of blood tests after an alleged incident at the Kingaroy Watchhouse on Sunday night.
Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Duane Frank said that about 11:00pm, a 32-year-old Kingaroy man was taken into custody in the Kingaroy CBD.
Police will allege that as he was being processed at the watchhouse, the man spat in the face of a police officer and punched him in the side of the face.
“An application for a disease test order was made to determine if the man has any communicable diseases,” Snr Sgt Frank said,
A blood sample was also taken from the police officer to assess his blood status.
Snr Sgt Frank said the the police officer would be re-tested in a few months to determine if he had contracted any disease.
He said contracting Hepatitis C was always a risk for police officers, especially if dealing with drug users.
The man has been charged with serious assault on police, obstructing police and fare evasion.
He was bailed to appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on May 30.

A 40-year-old Kingaroy man has been charged with drink-driving after he was breath-tested on Friday at 11:30pm on Mt Wooroolin Road.
He allegedly blew .064 BAC.

On Sunday, Kingaroy police located a 16-year-old girl wanted in relation to shop-stealing charges.
The girl allegedly stole stationery from Woolworths on April 13 and cosmetics from Big W on April 15.
She will appear in Kingaroy Children’s Court on May 6.

A search by police of a house in Kingaroy Street on Anzac Day has resulted in a 17-year-old woman facing drugs charges.
She has been issued with a notice to appear in court to face charges of possessing a small amount of cannabis and failing to dispose of a used drug needle.

The Kingaroy Blue Light Disco held on Friday night attracted 370 children.
Snt Sgt Frank said the next event, to be held on June 17, would have some special attractions as it would mark the 20th anniversary of the Blue Light Disco.
