The second annual Blackbutt Show, Shine & Swap Meet had a lot more “shine” this year … in both spit and polish, and warm autumn weather.

Last year’s inaugural event – which is organised by the Blackbutt Benarkin Lions Club to raise funds for charity – was cut short when rain came on Saturday afternoon.

This year, vehicles started rolling into the Blackbutt Showgrounds on Friday afternoon, some pulling caravans.

The rock’n’roll dance, which was also affected by the weather last year, was brought forward to Friday night .

Dancers were kept grooving to the sounds of the 50s and 60s, including a live “Elvis” performance by local singer Jeff Hancox.

The music kept on playing all day as Saturday as visitors admired the vehicles on display, ranging from Dodges to Mustangs, Pontiacs, classic caravans and vintage and veteran motorbikes.

Food and drinks were also available at the grounds.

Proceeds from this year’s event will be donated equally to the Royal Flying Doctor Service, Prostate Cancer Research and the National Heart Foundation.
