April 18, 2016
The magic of live theatre will be returning to Nanango at the end of April and the Nanango Theatre Company is getting ready to tickle your funny bone … if you’re up for it.
The NTC will be presenting “Dibley Live – The Vicar Of Dibley”, a stage adaptation of one of the BBC’s best loved and longest running comedies.
Fans of the show will be able to revisit all their favourite characters, including the dotty verger Alice Tinker, glum Parish Council chairman David Horton, his loving but inept son Hugo, strange sheep farmer Owen Newitt and the irascible Frank Pickle, amongst others.
The central role of Vicar Rev. Geraldine Granger will be played on alternate nights by veteran performers Lynda Archdall and Tracy Clark, who will share the demanding task of keeping the small Oxfordshire village of Dibley from descending into utter chaos.
After intermission, the NTC will also be presenting “Big Cats”, a gentle story acted with warmth and tenderness which focuses on Lily, who has spent all her married life in the same two-up, two-down council house.
Her husband Joe plays a very important role in her life, and the audience gradually realises just how important it is as the play unfolds.
“Dibley Live” and “Big Cats” are the NTC’s first productions for 2016, and are being directed by Anne Davoren.
Both plays will be performed at the Nanango Playhouse at the corner of Elk and George Streets on Friday and Saturday April 29-30, and again the following Friday and Saturday, May 6-7.
Doors will open at 7:00pm and the first play will commence at 7:30pm.
Tickets – which include supper at intermission – are $20 for adults and $15 for pensioners or students.
They can be purchased in advance from the Nanango Visitor Information Centre in Henry Street, Nanango, or at the door before each performance if not already sold out.
