Police are “almost convinced” it is the same man who robbed the United Petroleum service station in Kingaroy twice in just over a week.

The Youngman Street business, known locally as Ryke Fuel, was robbed at 8:20pm on April 7 and then at 8:40pm on April 15.

The first time the offender was armed with a large machete and the second time with a tyre lever.

Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Duane Frank, said police had followed up a number of lines of inquiry but was asking the community for help.

“We are almost convinced that it is the same offender from his mannerisms and his description,” Snr Sgt Frank said.

He actively encouraged anyone who may know something – even if it was just a rumour – to contact Kingaroy police on (07) 4160-4900 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800-333-000.

“We don’t want this to escalate, for him to go to other premises that are open at night time,” Snr Sgt Frank said.

The bandit has been described as about 178cm tall.

On the first occasion he was wearing a balaclava, a black hooded jumper, light-coloured long pants and black gloves.

During the second robbery, he was wearing a black balaclava under a grey hoodie, blue jeans, white sneakers and white gloves.
