Don’t miss out on your chance to see the NRL Trophy – and meet local rugby league hero Gavin Cooper – in Murgon on Easter Saturday.

The former Murgon Mustang is coming back home for a visit and will be bringing the NRL trophy with him.

Gavin will be at the Murgon Showgrounds on Saturday from 12:30pm to 3:00pm for a family fun day which includes a barbecue lunch.

From 1:00pm-2:00pm, there will be rugby league fun activities for the kids and then at 2:00pm, an official “Welcome Home Gavin” trophy presentation.

Gavin will also be the special guest at “An Evening With Gavin Cooper” at the South Burnett PCYC on Saturday night.

An auction of memorabilia will take place, too.

Bids can be made on the items, even if ticket sales have closed for the dinner.  Phone 0400-689-872.

Gavin Cooper played in the Townsville Cowboys’ 2015 NRL premiership-winning team as well as in their 38-4 victory over the Leeds Rhinos in the World Club Challenge.

“Coops” played all his junior football with the Mustangs before joining the Redcliffe Dolphins, the NQ Young Guns, Townsville Cowboys, the Titans, Panthers and then returning to the Cowboys in 2010.
