Wondai’s Brenton List put the first points on the board in the 2015 A Grade Grand Final

Rugby league will kick off in a serious way this weekend with players taking to the field for Round 1 of the 2016 A Grade Burnett competition.

Central Burnett teams will again be joining South Burnett teams in the competition.

On Saturday,  last year’s premiers Kingaroy will play Murgon (in Kingaroy); Cherbourg will take on Wondai  (in Cherbourg).  The Nanango Stags will have the bye.

It is also Round 1 for the South Burnett’s two Under 18 teams, South Burnett White (southern teams) and South Burnett Blue (northern teams), who are competing in the 22-round Toowoomba U18s competition.

Blue and White will face off against each other as part of a big day of football at Cherbourg’s Jack O’Chin Oval.

Junior games will be Cherbourg v Wondai (at Cherbourg), Kingaroy v Murgon (at Kingaroy) and Nanango v Central Burnett (at Nanango).
