The Toowoomba RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter was despatched to Durong shortly after 10:00am on Friday after reports a young boy had fallen from a tree and injured himself.

It is believed the child was playing on a private property when he climbed a tree and lost his footing, falling up to five metres.

He suffered suspected spinal injuries as a result of the accident.

The boy was treated by ambulance paramedics at the scene before being handed over to the CareFlight medical team.

He was flown to the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital in Brisbane in a stable condition.
