Former Murgon Mustang Gavin Cooper will be coming back home for a visit next month … and he’ll bringing the NRL trophy with him.

Cooper played in the Townsville Cowboys’ 2015 NRL premiership-winning team as well as in their recent 38-4 victory over the Leeds Rhinos in the World Club Challenge.

Murgon businessman Mark Smith announced on Tuesday that Cooper and the NRL trophy will be coming to Murgon on Easter Saturday (March 26) thanks to the Murgon Business and Development Association, the North Queensland Cowboys and the National Rugby League.

Mr Smith said more details about the visit would be announced soon.

“Coops” played all his junior football with the Mustangs before joining the Redcliffe Dolphins, the NQ Young Guns, Townsville Cowboys, the Titans, Panthers and then returning to the Cowboys in 2010.
