South Burnett Directions has launched an online survey to find out how confident the region’s businesses are right now, and what direction they expect their business will take over the next six months.
“The South Burnett Business Confidence Survey will ensure a dynamic economic profile based not just on numbers, but the general sentiment of local businesses,” SBD chairman Mayor Wayne Kratzmann said on Wednesday.
“A combination of recent good rainfall, and a good performance in the local economy over the past year, leads me to think that results of the survey will demonstrate confidence heading into 2016.”
According to a recent economic review of the region undertaken by economist Reuben Lawrence from Lawrence Consulting, 2015 represented a return to growth.
While other nearby regional economies were going backwards, the South Burnett achieved 1.7 per cent economic growth in the last financial year.
The survey is part of an annual review process being undertaken as part of the SBRC’s South Burnett Economic Development Strategy 2014-2019.
To ensure the accuracy of results, South Burnett Directions are encouraging as many local businesses as possible to undertake the survey.
They estimate it should take no more than 5-10 minutes to complete online.
A report on the findings will be publicly available in coming months.
South Burnett Directions hopes the end result will be a broad-based economic picture that will provide important information that can be used in its planning and projects.
