The Cherbourg Hornets travelled to Brisbane on Friday to be part of a big weekend of Indigenous football.

The Hornets took on the Brisbane Natives for the Gyemore Shield, played at Easts Carina Leagues Club as a warm-up to the annual Murris v Kooris Interstate Challenge.

The Hornets came off second-best in the game but played with spirit (see video below).

In the main game, the Southern Dingoes (winners of last year’s Queensland Murri Carnival) proved too strong for the Redferns All Blacks, the victors of the Koori Knockout competition. The Dingoes won 26-12.

The two games were presented by the Arthur Beetson Foundation.

The Indigenous All Stars v World All Stars clash was played at Suncorp on Saturday night, with the World winning 12-8.
