Stanwell Corporation, owner of the Tarong Power Station, is offering a $10,000 annual scholarship to a South Burnett student interested in a career in Occupational Health and Safety.
The Cid Burke Occupational Health and Safety Study Support Scholarship will provide $10,000 a year for up to four years for a student doing approved tertiary study in OH&S.
The scholarship is in memory of Cid Burke, a dedicated employee of Tarong Power Station for more than 20 years.
Tarong Power Stations site manager Dennis Franklin said Cid was passionate about Occupational Health and Safety and community service.
“This scholarship aims to continue Cid’s great work in OH&S in the South Burnett by helping a local person to gain tertiary qualifications in this very important field,” Dennis said.
The scholarship is to assist with course and associated study and living costs at a recognised tertiary institution. It also provides assistance and guidance from an industry mentor and vacation employment with Stanwell.
Other details of the scholarship are:
- Applicants must be from the South Burnett.
- The annual $10,000 scholarship is paid in six-monthly instalments for up to four years.
- Applicants must have a sound academic record and enrolment (or a commitment to enrol) in a full certificate, diploma or degree course at a relevant tertiary institution.
