Heritage Bank Nanango director Mark Gaedtke, acting branch manager Leisa Green and Acting Sergeant Marcus Hooper … drawing out the winners

December 22, 2015

It always pays not to drink and drive, but sometimes it can pay in dollars as well!  Nanango Police’s joint promotion with the local Heritage Community Branch, “Project Sober Roads”, came to an end on Monday with the drawing of three lucky winners.

Drivers that were breath-tested by Nanango Police during November to mid-December – and blew zero – were each given a ticket to fill out to take into the Heritage branch in Nanango to go into a draw to win a bank account.

Five hundred tickets were printed by police for the promotion.

Acting Sergeant Marcus Hooper, from Nanango Police, said it had been a very successful joint activity with Heritage, which had also attracted interest from police in other States.

“It is positive reinforcement for something as simple as not drinking,” he said.

“It has been a great initiative from Heritage Community Bank.”

Acting Sgt Hooper said drink-driving was over-represented in traffic statistics so although the promotion was now over, police would still be out in force breath-testing drivers, especially over the holiday break.
