Olympic swimmer Duncan Armstrong said he simply couldn’t refuse the request to be a guest at the Mayor’s Golf Day on Friday when he heard where the money went.

Duncan – who admits he’s not a great golfer – said he was impressed by the fact the money stayed in the community and supported causes that may not otherwise qualify for funding.

Mayor Wayne Kratzmann said he was thrilled with the day.

Thirty-eight teams of three players took to the course, raising $5000 before the proceeds of the charity auction and raffles were added.
