The Queensland Rural, Regional and Remote Women’s Network (QRRRWN) is hosting four Christmas functions over the next fortnight to help raise funds for women affected by drought or hardship.
QRRRWN CEO Angelique Ettia says the drought currently affecting about 86 per cent of the State makes Christmas a time to reflect on the resilience and resourcefulness of rural women and the integral part they play in their communities.
“In the spirit of the season we are offering the opportunity to purchase the gift of QRRRWN membership which will be donated to a rural woman,” she said.
“Drought has resulted in many of our members experiencing reduced income and increased costs, and we would like to show our support by continuing to connect, network and inspire those who inspire us in our communities”.
The “Time For Giving” functions will be held at:
- Nanango’s Copper Country Restaurant on Friday, December 4
- Brisbane’s Panda Pearls on Tuesday, December 8
- Toowoomba’s Middle Ridge Golf Club on Wednesday, December 9
- Biloela on Sunday, December 13
Each event will have an inspirational speaker to discuss the year that was and reflect on those times that went well and those that didn’t.
“December can be particularly difficult for rural women in Queensland,” Angelique said.
“Please join us at one of our events to connect, network and support those women who want to celebrate at this time of year.
“We encourage you to come along, bring a friend and join QRRRWN and its members at an event which always proves to be fun and fulfilling.”
