People with a passion about the region’s healthcare have been invited to apply for six positions coming due on the Darling Downs Hospital and Health Board, the body that oversees public health services in the South Burnett as well as wide swathe of southern Queensland.
The Board currently consist of nine members, including chairman Mike Horan.
The terms for six of these positions, including the Chairman’s role, are due to expire although most of the current appointees are expected to re-apply.
The South Burnett currently has two representatives: former South Burnett Regional councillor Cheryl Dalton (now CEO at SBcare) and former Kingaroy Shire councillor Terry Fleischfresser.
In May last year, Mrs Dalton was re-appointed to the Board for four years along with fellow board Members Dr Ross Hetherington and Ms Trish Leddington-Hill.
Board appointments are staggered so they don’t expire at the same time.
Health Minister Cameron Dick encouraged eligible candidates to apply for the open positions.
“We’re looking for people with leadership, management, and skills who are connected to their local communities,’’ Mr Dick said.
Candidates require skills, knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Health sector management
- Business, financial or human resource management
- Clinical expertise
- Health professional, currently providing care or treatment
- Legal expertise
- Primary healthcare
- Health research or academia relevant to the operations of the hospital and health service
- Health consumer and community issues relevant to the operations of the hospital and health service.
Roles are remunerated in accordance with State Government guidelines.
Applications close at midnight on Sunday, November 29.
