The South Burnett Chorale’s series of four charity concerts has become a Christmas tradition … and they’re getting underway this weekend!
The singers have been practising with a string quartet from the South Burnett Community Orchestra to present Vivaldi’s beautiful “Gloria”, one of the composer’s most popular sacred works which dates to about 1715.
The second work to be performed is The Christmas Light, a cantata for Advent and Christmas arranged by Patrick M. Liebergen, which includes choruses by Mendelssohn, Mozart and Schubert and Christmas carols from Gruber and Handel.
On Saturday (November 21), the Chorale and strings will be performing from 6:00pm at the Community Baptist Church, Mt Stanley Road, Nanango.
Proceeds will go to the Sandra Jones Centre, an orphanage in Zimbabwe.
On Sunday (November 22), the Chorale and strings will be at the Wondai Diggers Club from 4:30pm. Proceeds from this concert will go to RSL Welfare.
The last two concerts will be in Kingaroy and Murgon.
On Friday (November 27), the Chorale and strings will be at St John’s Lutheran School Hall from 6:00pm. Proceeds will go to the Australian Lutheran World Service.
The last chance to see the singers and musicians in action will be at St Joseph’s Catholic Hall, in Murgon, on Sunday (November 29) from 6:00pm. Proceeds will go to Southern Cross Care “Castra”. Admission to each concert is $10 (with children aged 12 and under free).
