The Rotary Club of Murgon recently hosted a dinner at Dimities Restaurant in Wondai to raise funds for Hummingbird House.

The event was supported by the Rotary Clubs of Kingaroy and Taabinga as well as Dimities Restaurant and Moffatdale Ridge Winery.

Hummingbird House, which is currently under construction in Brisbane, is due to open early next year.

It will be Queensland’s only children’s hospice, and one of only three in Australia.

Hummingbird House will operate as an eight-bed, 24/7 medical facility providing physician and nursing support, and pain and symptom management in a more home-like environment than a conventional hospital.

It will also provide scheduled family breaks and emergency respite care for families who have a child with an end-of-life disease.

About 3700 Queensland families are living with, loving and supporting a child with a terminal illness.
