Work to widen and re-seal Rodney Street, Proston, was scheduled to start on Tuesday.
The Council project will extend south from the Wondai-Proston Road intersection.
It will include earthworks, gravel pavement and bitumen sealing.
It is expected the works will be completed this month, weather permitting.
During construction, traffic will be controlled by signage or traffic control, with only minor delays anticipated.
A Council spokesman said access may be affected for local residents for short periods but prior notification will be given.
