Kingaroy has been chosen to host a talent identification camp to help select the Central United Crows squads for the U16 Cyril Connell and U18 Mal Meninga rugby league competitions in 2016.

The camp will held at T.J. O’Neill Oval on December 5-6.

Two other camps will also be held in the Division catchment area: at Roma (November 14-15) and Bundaberg (November 28-29).

The Cyril Connell and Mal Meninga cups were introduced in 2009 to provide a pathway of development for young rugby league players.

Both competitions are split into two pools. Pool A contains teams from outside of Brisbane while Pool B comprises teams from the Brisbane metropolitan area and the Gold Coast.

The teams are:

Pool A Pool B
Central Qld Capras Northern Suburbs Devils
Central United Crows Souths Logan Magpies
Ipswich RL Eastern Suburbs Tigers
Mackay Cutters Western Suburbs Panthers
Northern Pride Redcliffe Dolphins
Toowoomba Clydesdales Wynnum Manly Seagulls
Townsville Stingers Gold Coast RL Gold
Sunshine Coast RL Gold Coast RL Green

All players interested in taking part in the Kingaroy camp development camp MUST confirm their attendance by emailing Central Division representative co-ordinator Darren Burns on darrenb@broncos.com.au before Friday, November 6.

The email must include the player’s full name, date of birth and preferred camp location.

Lunch will be provided on both days of the camp as well as a barbecue on the Saturday evening.

Players will participate in a range of skill drills and games that involve full contact.

This is a development opportunity and is open to all players, regardless whether it is their first year or 18th year of playing rugby league.

Players born in 2000, 1999, 1998 & 1997 are eligible to apply.

There have been quite a few nominations for the Cyril Connell U16 team, but only about eight so far for the Mal Meninga U18 team.
