Andrew Saal ... running for Division 4

October 29, 2015

South Burnett child protection worker Andrew Saal announced today he will be standing for Division 4 at the Council election in March.

Division 4 covers the northern side of Kingaroy and is currently represented by Deputy Mayor Cr Keith Campbell, who has announced he will be standing for Mayor in 2016.

Andrew has approximately 10 years’ experience working with the South Burnett’s most vulnerable citizens.

He’s also worked in voluntary roles as well, including involvement with many committees and charitable community activities.

He assisted with the region’s community recovery efforts during the 2011 and 2013 floods, and for the last two years he’s also coached the Kingaroy Red Ants Under-6 team.

Andrew has young children himself, and is currently studying a postgraduate law degree.

He’s a firm believer in the old maxim that if you want a problem solved, you should give it to a busy person.

Andrew says he wants to provide a clear alternative to other Division 4 candidates.

“My commitment is to the South Burnett,” he said.

Andrew believes the region is on the cusp of an exciting period of economic development.

“With our proximity to Wellcamp airport and innovative businesses in our region kicking some real goals, we should take hold of these opportunities and capitalise on them,” he said.

“I believe that I can bring drive and enthusiasm to the role of Councillor which will lead to real outcomes for the South Burnett.

“In particular, I will be a strong advocate for the needs of residents in Division 4.”

Andrew says he also has a number of policy ideas which he will roll out during the election campaign.

“But I will always be approachable for constituents about their views and wishes for my Division,” he said.

South Burnett chef Jason Ford announced last month that he also intends to run for Division 4.
