The first round of the Summer Soccer 7s was played at the Tom Alford Oval in Kingaroy last Wednesday night.

This is the third year a Summer 7s competition had been played in the South Burnett, and it is also the biggest Summer 7s yet.

Six competitive teams and 12 social times have signed on for this year’s contest.

Soccer 7s is played over the summer months, partly so keen soccer players can stay in shape during the off-season, and partly to allow interested new players to try out the sport in a relaxed and fun way.

Matches are held on two fields under lights at Tom Alford Oval in Oliver Bond Street, with the first games starting at 5:30pm and continuing on until 9:00pm.

Each Summer 7s season lasts for eight weeks and there are usually two rounds – one before Christmas, the second in the New Year.

Spectators are very welcome, and a small canteen will be operating.
