The Kingaroy Aero Modellers open day will be held this Sunday at Booie … so long as it’s not raining.
“It would be nice to have some rain for the farmers if it fines up for Sunday!” club president John Box said.
Club members have been working hard to prepare everything for the Australian Model Flying Day, which is being held to coincide with other aeromodeller open days around the country.
Activities will start at 8:30am with a breakfast for club pilots followed by general model flying.
Official speeches at 10:00am will be followed by morning tea and a sausage sizzle lunch.
There will be more general flying plus the opportunity for visitors to have a go.
Flying highlights will include an aerial tow of a model glider by a model tow plane, an electric helicopter display showing manoeuvres that only a model can do, and general flying of a variety of fixed wing aircraft and quadcopters.
The Kingaroy Aero Modellers will also be officially opening their new upgraded club facilities, which have been sponsored by a grant from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund.
Donations collected on the day will go to the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
