Here’s the fishing report for Boondooma and Bjelke-Petersen dams for the week ending Monday, October 5:

Boondooma Dam

  • Dam Level = 63.5 per cent

It’s been another good week on the water. All methods of fishing are working.

If you want to troll, try about 30ft of water with a 15-19ft hard body lure.

Flicking around the points, like Pelican Point, in around 15-20ft of water using tail spinners.

In the river arms, slow rolled vibe/mask is working the best and, of course, the bait fisho is catching their share of fish as well.

The Bass are still firing this week and people have started catching Bass on the troll.

This week the Barber’s Pole was the place to be, flicking vibes or pulses with fish around the 40cm about average.

Redclaw are still hit and miss with some people getting some nice big ones while others have been getting none at all.

Don’t forget Sandy Creek is a no boating zone, and there is a 6 knot or no wash area in front of the camp.

Bjelke-Petersen Dam (Yallakool)

  • Dam Level = 44.6 per cent

It’s been a busy week for fisherman. All the storms we have had have really brought the fish on the bite, especially in the afternoons.

Yabbies/shrimp were the bait of choice. Lipless crankbaits with a mix of dark tops and light bottoms really performed, catching plenty of Bass averaging 40cm with numbers of Golden Perch on the side.

Red Claw have been caught in traps over the week with the biggest number 22 in one trap.

They’re still in the mud but with the weather heating up, they should be coming out for this year’s season any time.
