“Dingo Simon” from the Durong Dingo Sanctuary has been raising dingo awareness at another school, this time in Brisbane.
Simon Stretton took along his dingoes “Honey” and “Zahra” when he visited Sheldon College at Redlands last week.
Student Jade McKeown arranged the visit.
“She contacted me through my website about this documentary she was doing on dingoes,” Simon said.
“Her family has been going to Fraser Island for over 10 years and are concerned why they are not seeing dingoes any more.”
Principal Dr Lyn Bishop invited Simon to bring along some dingoes along for a chat.
“It was a long day, leaving here at 4:00am to be there by 8:30am, then leaving by 5:30pm and getting home by 10:00pm,” Simon said.
“But it was an awesome day for everyone.
“Honey and her daughter Zahra probably met more than 400 students.
“I spoke in their LINQ Precinct, it was awesome.
“My video presentation looked very good on their massive screen and they have a great sound system.
“Their marketing manager Michelle Stoneman made sure we felt at home and guided us through the day.”
Simon spoke to Prep to Year 4 students from the Junior College and the Year 7 Visual Arts class.
The students had an opportunity to get up close to the dingoes and even pat them.
“I was taken into their Interview room where Jade asked me 20 questions about the dingoes on the mainland and Fraser Island,” Simon said.
