A 13-year-girl has been airlifted by RACQ CareFlight Rescue after a possible snake bite.

The teenager had been working on a sheep property north-west of Gayndah when she felt a sting on her lower left leg.

She didn’t see a snake but had two marks on her leg and was taken to Gayndah Hospital by her family.

The Bundaberg-based rescue helicopter was tasked to Gayndah Hospital at noon and the child was then airlifted to Bundaberg Hospital as a precautionary measure.

The young patient travelled in a stable condition.

CareFlight doctors advise anyone who believes that they may have been bitten by a snake to limit body movement, apply a compression bandage to the bite area and call triple zero immediately.
