There was action aplenty at Kingaroy Airport on Friday – fire engines, a water bomber, a circling helicopter and lots of firefighters and SES volunteers on the ground.

There was even a flood boat …

It looked like a major disaster was unfolding somewhere but fortunately it was just an action-packed training day for firefighters from throughout the North Coast district.

The firies undergo periodic re-certification to check their skills in working with both fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft, ie how to load and unload passengers and goods, and practising safe interaction with the aircraft on the ground.

The SES volunteers were interested observers to all the activity.

The re-certification also provided an opportunity for QFES media staff to shoot photographs of emergency personnel in action for use in community education campaigns.
