Here’s the fishing report for Boondooma and Bjelke-Petersen dams for the week ending Monday, August 17:
* * *
Boondooma Dam
- Dam Level = 70 per cent
Another week with hot and cold temperatures. This made fishing hard because techniques changed every day.
Some big bass were landed casting the weed banks. Goldens are still best caught using bait.
Gentleman’s hours are the key to success for you and the fish. Very cold mornings are hard on everyone but the days have been around the 24-25 degree mark.

Bjelke-Petersen Dam – Yallakool
- Dam Level = 51 per cent
A great week for fishing again as golden perch and bass were being caught in close to even numbers at the end of the week on bait worms and yabbies/shrimp.
Golden perch were at an average size of 40–45cm with the odd 50cm among them.
Catfish are being caught in plentiful numbers off the bank near each boat ramp on worms in approximately 1 to 1.5m of water.
