Nanango State School was today named a State finalist in the 2015 Showcase Awards for Excellence in Schools.
The school was one of 19 named by Education Minister Kate Jones.
Ms Jones said the finalists would compete for State titles in six categories. The winners will be announced on World Teachers’ Day, October 30.
Nanango State School was named a finalist in the Showcase Award for Excellence in the Early and Primary Years for its “Building A Champion School” project.
The other finalists in this category are Camira State School for “Culture Is The Key”; and Yarrilee State School for “Warming Up To Numbers”.
“Congratulations to all State finalists for their achievement in this 16th year of Queensland’s most prestigious awards for State School excellence,” Ms Jones said.
“Being selected from a total of 112 entries which were then narrowed to 32 regional award winners is a remarkable achievement.
“Queenslanders can be rightly proud of their State schools, as shown by the outstanding quality of each of these 19 finalists.”
Ms Jones said each State finalist had won a $7500 development grant to help them continue to deliver the best for Queensland students.
