Nanango State School has won a 2015 Showcase Award for Excellence, competing against schools from all over the Darling Downs and south-west Queensland.

Education Minister Kate Jones announced today that Nanango, Murphy’s Creek and Newton State schools, and Warwick and Clifton State high schools had won awards for a range of innovative projects.

“I congratulate these five award winners for their significant contribution to education in local communities of the Darling Downs South West region,” she said.

Nanango State School won the “Network Ten Showcase Award for Excellence in the Early and Primary Years” for “Building A Champion School”.

Ms Jones said the regional selection team had praised the five schools for improving student outcomes through a sustainable and inclusive approach which could be used in other schools.

“These awards provide another important opportunity to share best practice as we celebrate the outstanding quality of Queensland’s state schools,” she said.

Each regional winner will receive a $1000 development grant which will further boost efforts to improve student learning outcomes.

“All regional winners will now compete for a place as a State finalist, with six statewide winners to be announced at the Showcase Awards Gala Dinner in Brisbane on Friday, October 30,” she said.
