The Nanango Stags celebrate after winning the Mini-Mod Grand Final at Wondai in 2014

July 16, 2015

The annual Mini Mod rugby league carnival will be on again this Saturday at Wondai.

The event attracts scores of junior teams from across the Wide Bay region in U7s, U8s, U10s and U12s.

This year visiting teams include Wallaroos, Burrum Heads, Hervey Bay, Gympie, Maryborough.

Local teams taking part will come from Cherbourg, Murgon, Wondai, Kingaroy, Nanango and the Central Burnett Brumbies.

Mini Mod is an introductory form of rugby league, with modified rules, which emphasises skill development and having fun.

The carnival is the brainchild of the Wondai Proston JRL and usually attracts more than 500 junior players – and their supporters – to Wondai every year.

All games are played with a quick turn-around which gives spectators constant footy action across three fields.

The first game will kick off at 8:20am.
