Brisbane-based charity Signal Flare is coming to the South Burnett on Sunday (June 28) for a “mates helping mates” barbecue.

Organiser Grant Richards – better known as “Grant The Polite Guy” during his time of homelessness – knows what it’s like to go without the necessities of life.

The barbecue will be held from 10:00am to 2:00pm at Hegarty Park in Cherbourg, but people in need or homeless from all surrounding towns are also invited to attend.

Signal Flare will be bringing up free clothes, food, toiletries and a lot more items to distribute.

“People have been so generous donating school supplies, toys, learning books, clothes etc for the community of Cherbourg, it is absolutely heart-warming, and we would like to send out a HUGE thank you to everyone – and that is an understatement,” Grant said on Facebook.

He expects between 500 and 1500 people to turn up.

For more information, contact Grant on 0412-190-011.
