Paper plane experts Dylan Parker and James Norton, aka The Paper Pilots, are special guests at this weekend’s Big Screen Film Festival in Nanango – and they are challenging local residents to a paper plane “throw-off”.
The duo plan to share their secrets and new designs with the participants in the inaugural Heritage Bank Nanango Paper Plane Championship.
Dylan and James will introduce the family screening of Robert Connolly’s family film “Paper Planes” on Sunday (June 14) at 10:00am at the Nanango Cultural Centre.
Following the screening Dylan and James will attend the Heritage Bank Nanango Paper Plane Championship to provide some inside knowledge on the skill of folding and throwing paper planes.
“We’ve been folding and flying in preparation for what we think is going to be one of the best film screenings since Paper Planes was released earlier this year,” Dylan and James said.
“It’s clear that the love of paper planes was already there but we a reseeing a major resurgence since the hit movie and book was released.
“We’re so excited to not only come and throw some pretty awesome planes in Nanango but be able to share some of our top secret new designs we’ve been working on over the last few months.”
The Heritage Bank Nanango Paper Plane Championship will consist of the following categories:
- Under 6
- Under 10
- Under 14, and
- Open
The winner in each category will be determined by the longest throw.
They will each receive a $50 account with Heritage Bank Nanango, while second and third placegetters will also receive a prize from South Burnett Regional Council.
Entrants should bring their paper plane along to the screening on Sunday to take part.
“This year’s Heritage Bank Nanango Paper Plane Championship will be a great opportunity for young and old alike to have some fun after being inspired by the Paper Planes film,” Heritage Nanango treasurer Andrew Black said.
“Come along and join in for the chance to be the 2015 Heritage Bank Nanango Paper Plane Champion!”
