The South Burnett Community Orchestra will be paying a tribute to Anzac next month with a gala charity concert and dinner at Kingaroy Town Hall.

“Medals, Music and Memories” will commemorate the 100th anniversary of Anzac, and also raise money for Soldier On, a non-profit organisation that supports injured soldiers returning from recent conflicts who are having difficulties reintegrating into the community.

The concert, on July 18, will feature the SBCO along with special guest musicians from Kingaroy State High School and the Chinchilla Concert Band.

Live music throughout the evening will include a number of pieces which have become associated with these wars.

A three-course dinner will be served, with service assisted by Kingaroy State High hospitality students.

There will also be a licensed bar with a range of drinks available for purchase, including South Burnett wines.

The evening will include a ceremony to acknowledge the service of veterans and defence force members.

There will be a flag ceremony with involvement from local veterans and reserve personnel, along with a guest speaker, the playing of the Last Post and reading of the Ode.

Tickets to “Medals, Music and Memories” are $50 and are available from Kingaroy Office Central in Haly Street, Kingaroy.

Tables can be booked for 6-8 people, and larger groups can also be accommodated.

“We believe this will be a very entertaining and memorable evening which will appeal to a broad section of the community,” SBCO events co-ordinator Carolyn Dingle said.
