Kumbia QCWA members and friends had a fun day recently when they poured dyes over white garments or fabric which they had previously folded in various ways and then secured with rubber bands.
It was not until 48 hours later that we were able to remove the bands and see the results – interesting and surprising. Also an exercise in patience!

We held our annual Anzac Day competition for the Kumbia school children.
Zoey Young, of Year 6, wrote a great essay and read it during the Anzac Day service in Kumbia.
The Senior Champion was Riley Cavanagh, Year 3, and Junior Champion James Whiteman, Year 2. Branch President Marian Mudra OAM presented prizes to the children on school parade, commended them for their efforts and thanked the teachers and parents for encouraging the children’s participation.

Members provide a library service each Saturday in the Kumbia Memorial Hall bringing current titles and a regularly changing supply of books from the Kingaroy Library.
Members have also been busy preparing handmade items to sell on our next market stall.

Contrary to the impression given by all this activity, the Kumbia Branch is struggling due to members’ increasing age and deteriorating health.
We urgently need the support of women in the Kumbia area to join with us to keep this very friendly branch of QCWA going.
We meet at 9:30am on the 1st Tuesday of the month and hold craft at 9:30am on the 2nd Wednesday of the month.
We would consider changing these times and/or days if we learned of women who would join but cannot attend at our current times.
If you’re interested and would like to know more. please come along or phone Marian on (07) 4164-5578 or Mollie 0n (07) 4164-4191.
Alternatively, we are having an afternoon tea at our rooms in Bell Street, Kumbia, at 2:30pm on June 20 and look forward to meeting you.
