Ready, steady … roll! It’s time to climb up Policeman’s Hill in Goomeri again and send your pumpkins to their fate.
The annual Pumpkin Festival will take over Goomeri on Sunday (May 31).
Events get underway at 6:00am with a barbecue in the Food Hall at the Goomeri Community Building in Dickinson Park.
The street markets will begin at 8:00am and run all day.
South Burnett chef Jason Ford will be joining celebrity chefs Matt Golinski and Glen Barratt on stage for a series of cooking demonstrations in Dickinson Park.
There’ll be free entertainment, whip-cracking displays, pig racing as well as all the usual pumpkin-themed fun, including decorated and giant pumpkin competitions, pumpkin bowls and pumpkin shotput.
The Great Australian Pumpkin Roll is scheduled to begin at 2:00pm.
Sadly, a familiar face at the top of the hill for many years will be missing this year following the death of former Kilkivan and Gympie mayor Ron Dyne in February.
For years, Ron had always been amongst the first of the “rollers” to release their pumpkins.
